Write With Me Study Hall, Monday, February 29: Leaping Forward

Today is a travel day for me as I leave Kansas to return to North Carolina for a couple of book events. When I travel, I like to take notes for future stories inspired by the people I meet, incidents I witness, or sometimes just an especially intriguing name. Today, for example, I passed Toad Suck Pond in Arkansas and thought how to plant that jewel of a place name smack in the middle of a page and what might happen way out there on a picnic. Also, the purple-haired teenager with a bon vivant attitude who waited on me at an interstate truck stop made me imagine what one could do with such personality in the middle of nowhere. I love filling up the coffers with all these juicy details and fertile wonderings.

Whether you’re writing in place today or on the fly, I hope you have a great day. DO tell us about it!

Another day, another 630 words–did two sessions, one in am, one just finished. Should I be concerned that Randi’s story seems to be writing itself? It seems too easy–although I already know where I’ll need to do heavy edits.

Don’t diss the Writing Goddess! She must have given you great inspiration. Finish a draft before worrying.

Good for you–two sessions in one day!
